One Piece OP-16 Booster Box

OP-16 The Time of Battle: Card List and Release Date

OP16, The Time of Battle, takes the One Piece Card Game to one of the biggest moments in the story. Its featured cards point to the Marineford era, with Whitebeard and his crew, the Admirals and Blackbeard. The headline cards are Super Alt-Art versions of the Three Admirals, and Ace and Marshall.D.Teach get their first Secret Rares. This guide covers the release dates, the card list, the Leaders, the chase cards and the box.

Quick facts: English release June 12, 2026 · Japanese release May 30, 2026 · 126+1 card types · Three Admirals Super Alt-Arts · Ace and Teach Secret Rares.

OP16 release date

The OP16 release date in English was June 12, 2026, as Booster Pack The Time of Battle. The Japanese version, 決戦の刻, came out on May 30, 2026, so the gap between the two was down to about two weeks. Bandai’s official English OP-16 page has the product details.

English cards usually become tournament-legal 7 days after release, but you can play them earlier at your local store’s pre-release events.

The English OP16 booster box holds 24 packs of 12 cards.

OP16 card list

The set has 126+1 card types in both languages. The Japanese product page gives the rarity breakdown: 6 Specials, 1 Treasure Rare, 6 Leaders, 2 Secret Rares, 10 Super Rares, 26 Rares, 30 Uncommons, 45 Commons and 1 DON!! card. Counting every variant, the Limitless TCG database lists 155 cards.

Unlike the English versions of OP-14 and OP-15, this set does not include any Extra Booster cards, so the English and Japanese card lists match.

Leaders

The Japanese page lists six Leaders:

  • Portgas.D.Ace (001)
  • Monkey.D.Luffy (022)
  • Buggy (041)
  • Sengoku (060)
  • Yamato (079)
  • Marshall.D.Teach (080)

The English page highlights five of them and does not show Sengoku, so check the card list if you are looking for the Sengoku Leader in English. Ace, Teach, Luffy and Yamato also have alternate art Leader versions.

The Marineford theme

Featured cards include Edward.Newgate (Whitebeard), Luffy, Buggy and Boa Hancock, all characters at the heart of the war at Marineford. Ace’s Leader and Secret Rare, Whitebeard and the Admirals make this one of the most story-focused sets in the game so far.

OP16 chase cards

The Three Admirals Super Alt-Arts

The top chase cards are the Super Alt-Art (Manga Rare) versions of the Three Admirals:

  • Kuzan (063)
  • Sakazuki (065)
  • Borsalino (073)

Collector price trackers list these three as the most valuable cards in the set. Each one covers the whole card in manga panels, and together they make one of the best three-card pages in the game.

Ace and Blackbeard Secret Rares

Portgas.D.Ace (118) and Marshall.D.Teach (119) are the set’s two Secret Rares, and this is the first time either character has had a Secret Rare. Both are big pulls, especially for fans of the Marineford story.

Treasure Rare

Collector sites list Vista (011) as the set’s Treasure Rare. Bandai’s pages do not name the card, but the Japanese breakdown confirms there is one.

SP cards

SP inserts of older cards are a big part of the value. Pre-release value lists included SPs of Nico Robin as Ms. All Sunday (OP14-084), Portgas D. Ace (ST15-005), Charlotte Katakuri (OP11-067), Bartholomew Kuma (EB04-054) and Tashigi (OP14-029). Rankings changed after release, so check current prices.

Event alternate art

The Event card “Zehahahahaha!” (116) has an alternate art version that fans of Blackbeard will want.

English vs Japanese OP-16

  • Card types: 126+1 in both languages.
  • Pack size: English packs usually have 12 cards, while Japanese packs have 6 and cost ¥220 in Japan.
  • Release: May 30, 2026 in Japan and June 12, 2026 in English.

Because the card lists match, the choice comes down to language, pack size and which version you prefer to collect. Many collectors pick English for the larger packs and Japanese for the earlier release.

Building an Ace collection

Ace fans have a lot to chase across recent sets. From OP-16, there is the Ace Leader (001) and its alternate art, the Ace Secret Rare (118) and the Ace SP (ST15-005). From OP-13 Carrying On His Will, there is the Ace Secret Rare with its Red Super Alt-Art and WANTED versions. Together they make one of the best character pages in the game, and they tell Ace’s story from the brothers to Marineford.

Cards for players

Not every popular card is a chase rarity. The best-selling cards from the set on TCGplayer included Prisoner of Impel Down, Benn.Beckman, Rockstar, Kouzuki Momonosuke and Otama. If you play, these are good cards to pick up early, and they are often cheaper as singles than the time it takes to pull them.

Is Borsalino in OP-16 or OP-15?

Both, in different versions. The Super Alt-Art manga Borsalino is in OP-16 (073). A separate Borsalino card from EB-04, with Super Rare and alternate art versions (EB04-058), is in the English OP-15 Adventure on Kami’s Island. If you collect Borsalino, you will want both sets.

The OP16 booster box

English One Piece booster boxes usually hold 24 packs of 12 cards. The One Piece OP16 booster box is the way to chase the Three Admirals, Ace and Teach. Bandai also released a Starter Deck Egghead (ST-29) and Official Card Sleeves 14 around the same time.

Why the set matters

The Time of Battle is a fan favourite because it brings the Marineford arc to the table. The war at Marineford is one of the most emotional parts of ONE PIECE, and the set captures it with Ace, Whitebeard, the Admirals and Blackbeard. The manga Admirals give collectors a clear goal, while the new Leaders gave players plenty of new decks to build.

It also showed how fast the English release schedule was catching up with Japan: only about two weeks after the Japanese launch, and the next set, OP-17, arrived just six days after Japan.

Tips for collecting the set

  • Aim for the three manga Admirals as a set; they look best together.
  • Keep the Ace and Teach Secret Rares safe in sleeves and toploaders.
  • Check every pack for SP inserts of older cards, as they rank highly.
  • Pick up playable cards like Prisoner of Impel Down as singles if you play.
  • If you collect Ace, add the Leader, alternate art Leader and Secret Rare to one page.
