Phantasmal Flames card list breakdown
The set has 94 main cards and 36 secret cards, 130 in total. The special cards break down like this:
- 001–094: the main set, including 6 Mega Evolution Pokémon ex and 4 other Pokémon ex.
- 095–107: 13 illustration rares.
- 108–124: 17 ultra rares.
- 125–129: 5 special illustration rares.
- 130: 1 Mega Hyper Rare, the gold Mega Charizard X ex.
The English set also includes cards from the Mega Gengar ex and Mega Diancie ex starter sets, which is why it is bigger than its Japanese counterpart. For every card and number, see the full Phantasmal Flames list on Limitless.
The Japanese version: Inferno X
In Japan, most of these cards come from MEGA expansion pack Inferno X (M2), released on September 26, 2025, with 98 cards. Japanese packs hold 5 cards and a Japanese box holds 30 packs. If you prefer Japanese product, the Japanese Inferno X booster box is the match.
Phantasmal Flames chase cards
Charizard: the cards everyone wants
Two Charizard Phantasmal Flames cards sit well above everything else in the set. Mega Charizard X ex 130/094 is the gold Mega Hyper Rare, and Mega Charizard X ex 125/094 is the special illustration rare. If you only want one Charizard, there are also an ultra rare version (109/094) and a double rare (013/094) that are far easier to pull.
Dawn special illustration rare
Dawn 129/094 is the top non-Charizard card. Supporter special illustration rares are popular with collectors, and Dawn’s artwork has made it a favorite.
The other special illustration rares
The remaining special illustration rares are Mega Lopunny ex 128/094, Mega Sharpedo ex 127/094 and Rotom ex 126/094. We have a TAG 10 graded Mega Sharpedo ex special illustration rare for collectors who prefer a graded copy.
Affordable chase cards
Not every great card costs a fortune. Illustration rares such as Meowth 106/094 and Piplup 098/094 are fun, affordable cards to chase for a binder.
Mega Charizard X ex Ultra-Premium Collection
Mega Charizard Tin – Mega Charizard X
Mega Sharpedo ex SIR – Phantasmal Flames #127 – TAG 10
Mega Moonlit Tin – Mega Gengar ex
Mega Gengar ex and the other headliners
Mega Gengar ex shares top billing with Mega Charizard X ex, and Gengar fans have plenty to choose from beyond the packs. The Mega Moonlit Tin with Mega Gengar ex and the Mega Gengar ex Battle Deck are both popular with players and collectors. Mega Heracross ex and Mega Lopunny ex round out the Mega lineup, and Mega Lopunny’s special illustration rare is one of the most popular non-Charizard cards in the set.
Phantasmal Flames pull rates
There are no official odds. A large community opening of more than 5,000 packs, reported by TCGplayer, gave these approximate rates:
- Double rare: about 1 in 5 packs
- Illustration rare: about 1 in 9 packs
- Ultra rare: about 1 in 12 packs
- Special illustration rare: about 1 in 80 packs
- Mega Hyper Rare: about 1 in 1,260 packs
Phantasmal Flames pull rates are community estimates, and the Mega Hyper Rare figure has a wide margin of error. Treat them as a guide, not a promise.
Which Phantasmal Flames product should you buy?
Booster box
A booster box has 36 packs, the best chance of pulling special illustration rares and the best price per pack. It is also the classic product for sealed collectors.
Elite Trainer Box
The Elite Trainer Box has 9 packs, a full-art foil Charcadet promo, 65 sleeves, 40 Energy cards, a player’s guide, dice, a plastic coin and a storage box with 6 dividers. The Pokémon Center edition adds 2 packs and a stamped Charcadet.
Booster bundle
The booster bundle has 6 packs and no extras, which makes it a simple, affordable way to open the set.
Mega Charizard X ex Ultra-Premium Collection
The Mega Charizard X ex Ultra-Premium Collection released on the same day. It includes foil Mega Charizard X ex and Oricorio ex promos, 18 booster packs, Mega Charizard X sleeves, a playmat, a deck box, a metal coin and dice. It is the pick for Charizard fans who want a display piece.

Is Phantasmal Flames worth opening?
If you love Charizard, yes. Few sets give you a gold Charizard and a special illustration rare Charizard in the same product line, and the short Phantasmal Flames card list means the hits are not spread across hundreds of cards. With only five special illustration rares and one Mega Hyper Rare, though, the Phantasmal Flames chase cards are rare pulls, so open packs for the fun of it and buy singles if you need one specific card.
For sealed collectors, the set has a lot going for it: a headline Charizard, a strong Supporter card in Dawn and a booster box with the classic 36 packs. Boxes and Elite Trainer Boxes with Charizard artwork tend to stay popular on the shelf long after release.
Collecting Phantasmal Flames on a budget
- Start with the illustration rares: on the Phantasmal Flames card list, cards like Meowth and Piplup are affordable and look great in a binder.
- Pick one Charizard: the ultra rare and double rare Mega Charizard X ex are much easier to find than the gold card.
- Open a booster bundle first: six packs give you a feel for the set before you commit to a box.
- Trade duplicates: the set is small, so your doubles are easy to swap at a local game store.
