Chaos Rising Booster Box – Mega Evolution: Chaos Rising Booster Box (ME04)

Chaos Rising Card List, Chase Cards and Mega Greninja ex: Full Set Guide

The Chaos Rising card list centers on a showdown between Mega Floette ex and the Pokémon that stand against it, led by Mega Greninja ex. It is a compact Mega Evolution set with a very strong top end, and Mega Greninja ex appears in four different versions. Here is everything you need to know before you open a pack.

Chaos Rising release date and story

The Chaos Rising release date was May 22, 2026, worldwide, with prerelease events from May 9 and a Pokémon TCG Live release on May 21. It is the fourth main set of the Mega Evolution series, usually labeled ME04, with the card code CRI.

The set tells a simple story. Mega Floette ex is the main threat, and Mega Greninja ex, Mega Pyroar ex and Mega Dragalge ex are the Pokémon that rise to stop it. Those four Pokémon also appear on the four booster pack designs. You can read the details in the official Chaos Rising announcement.

At launch, stamped Ho-Oh, Delphox and Keldeo promos were available as gift-with-purchase offers at participating stores.

The Japanese version: Ninja Spinner

In Japan, the cards first appeared in MEGA expansion pack Ninja Spinner (M4) on March 13, 2026, with 120 cards. The English set is slightly bigger, with 86 main cards against 83. Japanese collectors can pick up the Japanese Ninja Spinner booster box.

Chaos Rising card list breakdown

The set has 86 main cards and 36 secret cards, 122 in total:

  • 001–086: the main set, with 5 Mega Evolution Pokémon ex and 5 other Pokémon ex.
  • 087–097: 11 illustration rares.
  • 098–115: 18 ultra rares.
  • 116–121: 6 special illustration rares.
  • 122: 1 Mega Hyper Rare, the gold Mega Greninja ex.

The full list with every number is on Bulbapedia’s Chaos Rising page.

Mega Greninja ex in Chaos Rising

Mega Greninja ex Chaos Rising cards come in four versions, so even players who never pull the gold card can still own one:

  • 022/086 double rare
  • 100/086 ultra rare
  • 116/086 special illustration rare
  • 122/086 Mega Hyper Rare (gold)

The special illustration rare and the gold card are the two most wanted cards in the set. Greninja fans can also pick up the Mega Greninja ex Premium Collection, or the 30th anniversary Greninja ex Box for a different Greninja card.

Mega Floette ex, Mega Pyroar ex and Mega Dragalge ex

Mega Floette ex is the set’s villain, and its special illustration rare (117/086) shows it at the center of the chaos. Mega Pyroar ex and Mega Dragalge ex join Greninja on the side of the heroes, and Mega Dragalge ex also has a special illustration rare (118/086). Together, these four Pokémon carry the story of the set and its pack artwork, so they are the cards most players build decks around.

Chaos Rising chase cards

Before the English release, chase lists were based on the value of the Japanese cards, and the same names have stayed near the top. These are the Chaos Rising chase cards most collectors want:

The Mega Greninja ex pair

Mega Greninja ex 122/086 (Mega Hyper Rare) and 116/086 (special illustration rare) lead the set.

The other special illustration rares

  • Cinccino ex 119/086
  • Mega Dragalge ex 118/086
  • Mega Floette ex 117/086
  • AZ’s Tranquility 120/086 and Roxie’s Performance 121/086, two Supporter special illustration rares

Cinccino ex has been one of the surprise favorites, thanks to its artwork.

Ultra rares and illustration rares

Beyond the top tier, the full-art Emma 107/086 and the Froakie 088/086 illustration rare are popular, affordable cards to chase. Froakie in particular fits nicely next to the Greninja cards in a binder.

There are no official or reliable published pull rates for Chaos Rising yet. Expect special illustration rares to be rare and the Mega Hyper Rare to be very rare, as in other Mega Evolution sets.

Chaos Rising Pokémon Center ETB vs the regular ETB

The regular Chaos Rising Elite Trainer Box has 9 booster packs, a full-art foil Fennekin promo, 65 sleeves, 40 Energy cards, a player’s guide, damage-counter dice, a coin-flip die, a plastic coin and a storage box with 6 dividers.

The Chaos Rising Pokémon Center ETB has 11 packs and two full-art Fennekin promos, one stamped with the Pokémon Center logo. Preview photos also show a larger 42mm Froakie coin and a big randomizer die. It is sold by Pokémon Center, so the regular box is the easier one to find.

Which Chaos Rising product should you buy?

  • Booster box: 36 packs and the best chance at special illustration rares. The pick for set builders and sealed collectors.
  • Elite Trainer Box: 9 packs, the Fennekin promo and accessories. Great as a gift.
  • Booster bundle: 6 packs and nothing else. The Chaos Rising booster bundle is the easiest way to try the set.

Build and Battle Box exclusives

The Chaos Rising Build and Battle Box is the prerelease-style kit with a ready-made 40-card deck and booster packs. It includes exclusive non-holo versions of Delphox, Ampharos, Crobat and Goodra, which matters if you are building a complete master set.

How Chaos Rising fits the Mega Evolution series

Chaos Rising is the fourth main set in the Mega Evolution series. The main sets so far are Mega Evolution (September 2025), Phantasmal Flames (November 2025), Perfect Order (March 2026), Chaos Rising (May 2026), Pitch Black (July 2026) and Delta Reign (November 2026), with the special sets Ascended Heroes and 30th Celebration in between. Each main set adds new Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, and Chaos Rising’s Mega Greninja ex and Mega Floette ex are two of the most popular so far.

Is Chaos Rising worth collecting?

If you like Greninja, it is an easy yes: four versions of Mega Greninja ex give you a chase at every budget. The set is also small, which makes the Chaos Rising card list realistic to complete apart from the very top cards. Players get a clear story and strong Mega ex, while collectors get two excellent Supporter special illustration rares.

As always, buy for the fun of opening first. If you want one specific card, singles are usually the cheaper route, and sealed boxes are best kept upright in a cool, dry place.

Tips for building the set

  • Start with the double rare and ultra rare Mega ex, then add the illustration rares.
  • Keep a checklist of the 36 secret cards so you can trade duplicates quickly.
  • Sleeve special illustration rares straight away; textured cards show scratches easily.
