Marvel Super Heroes MTG is the second big Marvel set for Magic: The Gathering, following Marvel’s Spider-Man in 2025. Marvel Super Heroes MTG release dates
Marvel Super Heroes released on tabletop on June 26, 2026, with MTG Arena on June 23 and prerelease events from June 19 to 25. The full card gallery went up on June 12, after the Commander decks were revealed from June 8 to 11. Why Marvel works in Magic
Marvel has decades of heroes, villains and team-ups, which fits Magic’s love of legendary creatures and big battles. Spider-Man MTG cards showed how well comic characters translate into the game, with Web-slinging capturing how Spider-Man swings in and out of a fight. Marvel Super Heroes MTG then widened the cast to the Avengers and the Fantastic Four, with mechanics like Teamwork that reward heroes fighting together.
Both sets also lean into the comics’ biggest story: the Infinity Stones. Each set has a Stone as its headline card, so collectors have a reason to chase both.
What is in MTG Marvel Super Heroes?
The set focuses on the Avengers, the Fantastic Four and allied heroes; the X-Men do not appear as a team. Retailer set lists put the main set at about 296 cards, and the official article confirms 81 commons and 100 uncommons, plus 60 Source Material cards.
New mechanics
- Power-up: a one-time ability that adds +1/+1 counters, cheaper on the turn the creature enters.
- Teamwork: tap creatures with enough total power for a bonus.
- Plan: enchantments that build up plan counters for a big payoff.
- Worthy: tied to Mjölnir.
- Returning: Connive, Harness (on The Mind Stone) and transforming double-faced cards.
Chase cards
The headliner is The Mind Stone, which comes in three versions: a regular version, a borderless Gauntlet foil found in fewer than 1% of Collector Boosters, and a textless cosmic foil with fewer than 150 printed.
Top regular cards in July 2026 included Loki, Lord of Misrule; Doctor Doom, Unrivaled; The Vision and Scarlet Witch; Ultron the Annihilator; Iron Man, Modern Marvel; Hulk, Brutal Brawler; and Mjölnir, Hammer of Thor. Borderless classic comic mythics, like Thanos, the Mad Titan; Daredevil, Man Without Fear; and Shang-Chi, Master of Kung Fu, are found only in English Collector Boosters.

There are four Marvel Super Heroes Commander decks, each with 100 cards (29 new to Magic, or 26 for The Fantastic Four), in regular and Collector’s Editions:

- Wakanda Forever (green and white): T’Challa, the Black Panther.
- The Fantastic Four (white, blue, red and green): Invisible Woman, Mister Fantastic, Human Torch and The Thing.

MTG Spider-Man: Marvel’s Spider-Man
Spider-Man MTG fans got their own set first. Marvel’s Spider-Man released on September 26, 2025, with prerelease events from September 19 to 25. It is based on the comics rather than the films, and it uses three codes: SPM for the main, Standard-legal set, and SPE and MAR for Eternal-legal cards. Web-slinging
The key mechanic is Web-slinging, an alternative cost: instead of paying mana, you return a tapped creature you control to your hand. The set also introduced the transforming double-faced cards that Marvel Super Heroes later reused.

- Spectacular Spider-Man: a rare with seven textured-foil borderless “costume change” variants in Collector Boosters, found in fewer than 1% of packs.
- Cosmic Spider-Man: one of the most searched-for cards. Cosmic Spider-Man MTG fans will find it in the main set.
