Lorwyn Eclipsed release date
The Lorwyn Eclipsed release date for tabletop was January 23, 2026. Prerelease events ran at local stores from January 16 to 22, and the set arrived on MTG Arena on January 20, after previews began on January 5. The official Lorwyn Eclipsed product page lists every product.
The set also kicked off a busy competitive season, with the Pro Tour from January 30 to February 1 and Store Championships from February 6 to 22. It is a premier set, so it is legal in Standard.
The main set code is ECL. Commander cards use ECC, and the Special Guests use SPG. Japanese-language products, under the name ローウィンの昏明, came out in the same window.

Back to Lorwyn and Shadowmoor
The original Lorwyn block came out in 2007 and 2008, and it is still remembered for its kindred tribes and its twist: the bright, peaceful world of Lorwyn turning into the dark world of Shadowmoor. Lorwyn Eclipsed brings both sides together in one set, with cards that lean into light, shadow or both.
For long-time players, it is a nostalgia trip, with returning mechanics like Evoke and Persist and Special Guests such as Bitterblossom. For newer players, it is a chance to discover a plane that many veterans call one of their favourites.
Lorwyn Eclipsed card list
The main set has 283 cards, including full-art basic lands at the end of the list. Booster Fun variants, Japan Showcase cards and promos continue the numbering up to 408. According to the official collecting article, the main set includes 81 commons and 100 uncommons.
New mechanics: Vivid and Blight
- Vivid: an ability word that counts the colors among your permanents, from 0 to 5. The more colors you have, the stronger the card.
- Blight: a keyword action that puts -1/-1 counters on a creature you control, often as a cost.
Returning mechanics
Many favourites from the original Lorwyn block are back: Changeling, Kindred, Convoke, Behold, Evoke and Persist. The set also has transforming double-faced cards and hybrid mana cards, both fitting the light and shadow theme.
Booster Fun treatments
- Fable showcase frame: 10 uncommons, 26 rares and 14 mythics.
- Borderless cards: 5 rares and 8 mythics.
- 10 full-art basic lands.
- Japan Showcase: 10 cards, only in Collector Boosters, including fracture foil versions.
- Special Guests: 20 cards, 10 themed on Lorwyn and 10 on Shadowmoor, such as Bitterblossom, Door of Destinies and Slippery Bogle.
Lorwyn Eclipsed chase cards
Bitterbloom Bearer
The headline card is Bitterbloom Bearer, a mythic rare. Its serialized double-rainbow foil borderless version is limited to 500 copies, features art by Rebecca Guay and appears in less than 1% of Collector Boosters. It is always English.
Japan Showcase fracture foils
The fracture foil Japan Showcase cards are some of the most valuable in the set. In March 2026, fracture foil versions of Bloom Tender, Moonshadow, Winnowing, Selfless Safewright and Spinerock Tyrant ranked among the top cards.
Mythic rares
Other mythics named among the most valuable include Bloom Tender, Moonshadow, Wistfulness, Chronicle of Victory, Deceit and Vibrance. Oko returns as a transforming mythic planeswalker: Oko, Lorwyn Liege on one side and Oko, Shadowmoor Scion on the other.
Shock lands
Five reversible-art shock lands, such as Blood Crypt and Steam Vents, are rares that players always want.
Drafting the set
Play Boosters are made for drafting, and Lorwyn Eclipsed is a fun Limited format. Vivid rewards you for playing more colors, while Blight lets you turn -1/-1 counters into an advantage. Hybrid mana cards make it easier to splash, and the kindred tribes give drafters clear themes to build around. If you want to draft at home with friends, Draft Night includes everything for a 4-player “Pick-Two Draft”.
Lorwyn Eclipsed Commander decks
There are two Lorwyn Eclipsed Commander decks. Each has 100 cards, with 2 traditional foil borderless legendary creatures and 98 non-foil cards (10 of them new to Magic), plus 10 double-sided tokens and counters, a reference card and a deck box.
Dance of the Elements
A five-color Elementals deck, led by Ashling, the Limitless and Mass of Mysteries. Reprints include Sol Ring, Mulldrifter, Avenger of Zendikar and Muldrotha, the Gravetide.
Blight Curse
A Jund (black, red and green) deck built around -1/-1 counters, drain effects and curses. Its commanders are Auntie Ool, Cursewretch and The Reaper, King No More, and reprints include Vraska, Betrayal’s Sting, Grave Titan, Skinrender, Putrefy and Terminate. The Blight Curse Commander deck is the one to pick if you want to play with the set’s new Blight mechanic.
